AMA seeks to promote, support and improve statistical and mathematical education in the Auckland region.

AMA fosters cooperation and stimulates discussion. It shares ideas, strategies, research findings, materials and information using its newsletters, conferences and workshops, and via this website.

Maths & Calc Day, Call for presenters

Organisation is underway for Maths & Calc day again being held at  AUT Wellesley St, Thursday November 28th.

Michael & Jared are on the lookout for people to present workshops, if that sounds like you e-mail (Enable Javascript to see the email address) with a brief outline of the content you’re thinking of.

They are looking at a variety of workshop structures including short “soap box” sessions (approx 20 minutes) through to the standard hour length workshops.

These days are extremely valuable professional development for our teaching community so don’t be shy – we would like to hear your story.

Presenters receive a small koha a free lunch and do not pay the registration fee.

Preparing for Exams

We are at the business end of the school year and the focus for many has turned to external exams especially for students sitting Cambridge exams which start in October.

Revision classes for Cambridge exams are held at Auckland Grammar. There is a fee for these classes. Information may be found here

For girls taking Level 3 Calculus and or Physics Auckland Women in Engineering  are offering free tutoring during the first week of the October holidays.

Space is limited and registration is essential – also please make sure if students register and find they can’t attend please contact the University so their place can be offered to someone else

NZAMT January Writing Camp

NZAMT is inviting expression of interest  from teachers to take part in  the January Writing Camp. This is where the secure NZAMT internals are generated each year.

Tuesday the 7th to Friday the 10th of January 2020, Auckland.

Calcex now in its 3rd year has 49 teams from 28 schools competing across Auckland in Gisborne and Manawatu –  its not too late to enter a team  or host a competition
