NZQA today announced changes to NCEA and UE today. These changes will only apply for 2020.
In summary
- Bonus credits for NCEA “For every 5 credits a student attains towards their NCEA through internal or external assessment, they will be entitled to one extra “Learning Recognition” credit. Students undertaking NCEA Level 1 are eligible for up to a maximum of 10 additional credits while those at Levels 2 or 3 are eligible for up to a maximum of 8 additional credits”
- Certificate Endorsement can be gained with 46 rather than 50 credits
- Subject endorsement gained with 12 rather than 14 credits – the 3 internal and 3 external condition remains
- UE will be 12 credits across 3 approved subjects rather than 14. Level 3 will still need to be gained and the literacy requirement met
